Shire Staff Planting Day at Local Reserve

Shire staff members were actively involved in a local environment project this week.

Led by our Environment team, native seedlings were planted, staked and protected in an area that forms part of the Wadandi Track reserve. This important spot is a vegetated ecological corridor providing habitat for local fauna including quenda, western ringtail possums and black cockatoos.

The vegetation at this location had become degraded due to weed invasion of introduced grasses and Watsonia.

The planting aims to:

  • Improve the vegetation condition, plant species diversity.

  • Enhance the ecological linkage through this section of the Wadandi Track.

Sourced from the Cowaramup Tube Nursery, seedlings included the Honey Bush, Prickly Moses, Peppermint Willow Myrtle, Marri, Jarrah, Bull Banksia and more!
