The libraries were buzzing with excitement this school holidays as children and families visited for the highly anticipated science workshops.
Delivered by the dynamic team at Supersonic Science, these hands-on sessions offered an engaging and educational experience for young science enthusiasts aged five and over.Held at both Augusta and Margaret River libraries, the workshops featured a jam-packed hour of interactive experiments and demonstrations. Highlights included Supersonic snow and slime (which participants were thrilled to take home), bubbleology, toroidal vortex cannons, the ever-popular elephant’s toothpaste reaction and a dramatic burning bubbles demonstration. Each activity was designed to spark curiosity and make science fun, accessible and memorable.
Take a look at some of the action from the Augusta Library workshop, and hear from our young scientists. The energy in the room was electric.
The workshops were extremely well received, with tickets booking out quickly and enthusiastic feedback from attendees. Children were captivated by the sensory experiences and the opportunity to explore scientific concepts in a playful and safe environment. The slime and fire experiments were particular favourites.
This event was made possible thanks to generous funding from the LBW Trust and Friends of Libraries Australia, whose support enabled the libraries to host this high-quality science education experience free of charge for the community.
The Supersonic Science workshops are part of the Shire’s ongoing commitment to providing educational opportunities for local families and fostering a love of learning in young minds.
