 Temporary Change to FOGO Disposal

The Shire of Augusta Margaret River advises residents of a temporary change to the disposal of FOGO waste, due to a fire at the Banksia Road Organic Processing Facility in Dardanup.

The Organics Processing Facility is managed by Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council and processes food organic and garden organic (FOGO) waste collected throughout the South West, including FOGO waste from the Shire of Augusta Margaret River.

Residents are advised that waste from FOGO bins will be temporarily sent to landfill as a result of the fire.
While FOGO bins will still be collected, some residents may wish to switch to a home composting system if available.   Bulk green waste can continue to be disposed of for free at the Davis Road Waste Management and Recycling Facility (garden waste only).

UPDATE - Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council  have advised they will recommence processing of material collected in FOGO bins from Wednesday 24 January, 2024.  From this date material will no longer be send to landfill.
