The HEART beats to a new rhythm

At its recent meeting, Council endorsed the purpose of the Margaret River HEART as a community facility and decided to adopt a co-managed model of operation.

The Shire of Augusta Margaret River and Arts Margaret River have signed an agreement that establishes how this model will operate.

This new model brings together the collective skills and experience of the Shire and Arts Margaret River who will become the HEART’s resident arts and culture group.

Under the terms of the agreement, Arts Margaret River will be responsible for developing, managing and delivering a full and varied program of community focused arts, theatre and cultural events, workshops and opportunities for regionally based conference and business events.

The Shire will retain responsibility for the HEART and will ensure that the facility is maintained and presented to the highest standards. In addition, the Shire will provide the required technical and production services to support Arts Margaret River deliver their annual event program.

The future looks bright for culture and arts at the HEART. The new arrangement will see the Shire and Arts Margaret River work together to build a stronger connection and easier access for our community to the HEART.

The HEART team have worked tirelessly over the past three years to establish and deliver a varied program, with passion, commitment and professionalism to provide arts, culture and entertainment opportunities for the community.

Arts Margaret River, a not-for-profit cultural community organisation, has been operating for almost five decades and have welcomed the new agreement.

A big thank you to all who participated in the review of the HEART. Let’s get behind this new stage to ensure our much loved HEART reaches its full potential.
