Wadandi Track Bridges Project Selected as Winner in State Engineering Awards!

Wadandi Track Bridges Project Selected as Winner in State Engineering Awards!

The Shire is proud to announce that the 2022 Wadandi Track Bridges Replacement project was awarded first place in the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia Excellence Awards - Best Public Works Project Under $2m (Regional).

The Wadandi Track Bridges Replacement project involved the replacement of three timber railway bridges that were constructed as part of the historic Busselton to Flinders Bay Railway.

Due to the poor condition of the structures the largest and most iconic bridge, crossing over the Margaret River, required refurbishment and two smaller bridges on the trail required replacement.

The objective of the project was to refurbish and replace old timber railway bridges on the historic Wadandi Track. This iconic trail is well used by both cyclists and walkers as a connection to Cowaramup and provides views of natural bush, farmland and vineyards.

Congratulations to all those involved including the Shire Works team, contractors Bocol Construction and Enviro Infrastructure and key stakeholders Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts (DITRDCA), Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), trail users and Undalup Association Inc.

This project was joint funded with the Australian Government Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts (DITRDCA) through their Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCIP).
