What’s On Wadandi Boodja this September

Shire supported event this September

September is here, spring is in the air and it’s time to shine a spotlight on the incredible artists who call our region home.

Margaret River Region Open Studios is back from 12 - 27 September to give art lovers the rare chance to step inside artists’ private studios, meet the people behind the work and see their creativity in action.

This is Australia’s largest open studios event, and more than half of the 155 participating studios are located within the Shire of Augusta Margaret River, stretching from Cowaramup to Augusta and Rosa Brook to Prevelly. With 33 new studios opening their doors this year you can discover new talent alongside renowned artists including Leon Pericles, Jacqui Brown and Fi Wilkie. Head to the MRROS website to download the event guide.

For budding young artists, Margaret River Library is hosting award-winning cartoonist and graphic novelist Aśka for a free comics workshop  on 22 September. Open to ages 10+, kids will learn how to turn ideas into stories through pictures. Tickets go on sale 7 September but be quick!

The library is also hosting a free, beginner-friendly Trove workshop on 16 September, where you can learn how to explore Australia’s digital collections of newspapers, photographs, maps and books to uncover stories from the past.

There are also some great workshops and community celebrations throughout the month, including a Wine Basics session presented by the Margaret River Business Network, and the Augusta Community Resource Centre’s 30th Anniversary Open Day. Plus Rec Connect is on every Friday at the Margaret River Recreation Centre for high school-aged young people.

We’re proud to support these diverse events through our grants programs and community partnerships to celebrate the place we call home and the people who make it so special.

P.S. If you’re already looking ahead to summer, Karnidale Circus Festival 2027 tickets are now on sale!
