Sustainable Economy Strategy

The Shire has developed a Sustainable Economy Strategy, to:

  • identify the key principles to guide economic development into the future
  • identify and prioritise key signature projects that will assist in transitioning to a sustainable economy.

The Sustainable Economy Strategy contains a number of actions for implementation over 2021-2025 in line with the vision:

The local community is supported by livelihoods and enterprises that are sustainable, climate-resilient, diverse, and locally-owned in a circular economy, a regenerative and improving environment, and a just community that upholds the rights of everyone.

The Sustainable Economy Strategy can be read in conjunction with the Background Paper for those wanting to better understand the economic context of the Shire.

Business Surveys

In mid-2019 a series of business surveys was circulated to hear from local business owners / managers.  The outcomes from this survey will help inform the Sustainable Economy Strategy currently under development.  Please visit the Sustainable Economy YourSay page to access the Business Survey Report outlining the key findings.
