BeatLab Weekend

Learn the fundamentals of modern music production.

A two-day collaborative music production workshop will give participants the chance to work together to create original beats using professional studio equipment.  While participants will gain hands-on skills in digital music production, the primary focus is ensuring each young person feels empowered to try new things, share ideas, and see their contributions come to life in a finished track.

Through rotating roles such as drum programming, melody creation, sampling, and arrangement, every young person will have the opportunity to contribute ideas and take part in the creative process - regardless of prior musical experience.

Facilitated by producer Rob Lake (aka Rob Shaker), operator of WA's premier hip-hop studio for over 15 years, who has over 1,500 production credits and 200 million combined streams, BeatLab Weekend offers local youth access to real-world creative experience in a safe, engaging, and collaborative setting.
