Public Health Plan

The Shire of Augusta Margaret River’s Public Health Plan recognises that good health is central to a liveable, friendly, sustainable and safe community.

Some members of the community are more vulnerable to poor health and wellbeing. The Public Health Plan recognises these priority populations within our Shire:

  • Aboriginal children and their families
  • Seniors
  • People who are experiencing socio-economic disadvantage.

Developed using an evidence based approach that examined local health data, the plan identifies opportunities and priority areas for improvement, including:

  • Active and healthy lifestyles
  • Environmental health and safety in a changing climate
  • Social and mental wellbeing.

The plan can be downloaded below. Please contact us if you require a copy in large print, audio or CD.

Note: The Public Health Plan aligns with the Community Strategic Plan outcome of having a welcoming, inclusive and healthy community and is intrinsic within the social justice value.

Occupational Safety and Health Policy

As the largest single employer in the local government area, we recognise that having a strong commitment to the health and wellbeing of our own staff is essential as we seek to lead by example.

A healthy workforce is one that is engaged, committed, resilient and less likely to suffer injuries and chronic diseases.

The Shire’s Occupational Safety and Health Policy provides has been developed to ensure the Shire provides a safe and fair workplace.
