Bites and Sites: More Sites for Food Trucks

Exciting News For Food Truck Lovers!

Last week Council voted to update the Shire’s Mobile Food Business Policy, expanding opportunities for food trucks to operate in popular spots around the Shire.

After six months of community feedback, it was clear that our residents wanted more food truck locations. Previously, food trucks were limited to just four Shire reserves at Rotary Park, Surfers Point, Margaret River Mouth, and Flinders Bay.

With the new policy, food trucks can now also set up at:
  • Duggan Pavilion in Cowaramup
  • Druids Hall Park in Witchcliffe
  • Main Beach in Gracetown
  • Ellis Street Jetty in Augusta.

Additionally, more food truck vendors can now operate from the same location, making it easier for food truck businesses to thrive and for our residents to enjoy a variety of tasty options.

In line with other community feedback, permits will be restricted to reduce conflict with existing food and beverage businesses.

The policy updates also allow mobile food businesses to operate on private property in town/village centre and rural zones without the requirement for planning approval, in restricted circumstances.

These decisions open more exciting possibilities for local businesses and food lovers alike.

Keep an eye out for your favourite food trucks in these new spots and enjoy the culinary delights they offer right here in our Shire!
