Rate notices will arrive soon
If you own a property in the Shire of Augusta Margaret River, you’ll receive your rates notice in the mail in the next few days. While no one likes receiving bills, your rate payments make up around 62% of the Shire's operating revenue and help to fund the things that make Augusta Margaret River a great place to live – from parks, playgrounds, libraries, and recreation centres to roads, buildings, and community facilities, as well as protecting our environment, managing waste and so much more.
The scope of what we provide and maintain is vast, so our budgeting process carefully balances community needs and desires with what the Shire can realistically afford. We’ve workshopped what can be achieved now and what will be planned for future years to ensure the best outcomes for everyone.
In addition to funding ongoing essential services, the 2025-26 Budget includes a $25.9 million investment in capital works to support everyday life - maintaining and upgrading roads, buildings, parks, paths, and community facilities. We’re also providing $875,000 in Shire grants to support local community and environmental groups. You can find out about the major projects we’ve planned for 2025-26 here.

Experiencing financial hardship?
We understand the cost-of-living pressures are real and do our best to help where we can. Last year we scrapped instalment fees, during COVID we kept rates on hold and this year we reduced the rate in the dollar to offset Landgate’s higher property valuations.
If you’re experiencing financial hardship, we also offer a range of payment options. Please contact the Customer Service team via email [email protected] or call 08 9780 5255.
