What’s On Wadandi Boodja this October

Shire-supported events this month

It’s October and the beginning of Kambarang - the Wadandi season of birth and awakening. As the days become warmer and drier, it’s the perfect time to connect, celebrate, and enjoy everything our region has to offer.

The Shire of Augusta Margaret River is delighted to support a range of events to help you do just that - from major festivals to smaller community initiatives.

Rolling into town from 15 to 18 October is the iconic Cape to Cape MTB. Starting at Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse and finishing four days - and 200km - later at Cape Naturaliste, this bucket-list mountain bike event takes ridersfrom the workd along breathtaking trails, past vineyards, through national parks and forests, across farmland and into brewery finishes.  Kids can get in on the action too, with the return of Cape Kids on 14 October.

There are also plenty of opportunities to connect with your local community. The Augusta Community Development Association is bringing Arts Margaret River’s popular Young@HEART music program to Centennial Hall, while in Rosa Brook, don’t miss the Food Truck event on 2 October - the first event in the Rosa Brook Revival - Poetry in Motion project. In Gnarabup, Mind-Ed is hosting a relaxed coastal walk followed by a free coffee, plus families can bounce, slide and splash their way through the Rec Centre’s Inflatable Fun Day on 6 October.

You can also build new skills with workshops from our partners at Mind-Ed and the Margaret River Business Network, or learn more about our Young Mentors Program or Community Foundations.
Later in the month, immerse yourself in the heritage and history of our beautiful region at the free South West Heritage Festival. Taking over Nala Bardip Mia - Margaret River HEART on 31 October, this year’s ‘Underground’ theme takes you beneath the surface through a full day of fascinating talks, conversations and local stories.

We’re proud to support these diverse events through our grants programs and community partnerships to celebrate the place we call home and the people who make it so special.
