How to manage your waste in the shire
Your 2025/2026 Waste and Recycling Guide and bulk waste vouchers are set to hit your mailboxes shortly! These will be sent to ratepayers, not residents and cannot be replaced – so make sure you keep these safe. Landlords, please ensure you pass these onto your tenants to ensure they get the best and most up to date information. If your guide doesn’t arrive within a month, it might be lost. Please reach out to our Customer Service team on (08) 9780 5255 so we can update your address in the system and send one out.
In the meantime, here’s some handy tips on how you can reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfill.
Turn your green waste into free mulch
Did you know that you can take up to 2m3 of green waste to the Davis Road Recycling and Waste Management Facility and turn it into mulch, for free? Please note that fees apply for green waste over 2m3 and general waste disposal charges will apply if it is contaminated.
Looking for free mulch? Swing past 7 days per week during normal opening hours to grab a load.
Grab a bargain at the Tip Shop
Did you know that we have a tip shop, located at the Davis Road Recycling and Waste Management Facility?
The tip shop is a place where our community can purchase second-hand items and materials that were otherwise destined for landfill. This may include furniture, building materials, tools, kitchenware, outdoor equipment, and so many more treasures. Open 8am to 4pm Saturdays and Sundays, come grab yourself a bargain and help keep quality items out of landfill. If you have items suitable for the tip shop, just let the gate attendants know on arrival.
Containers and plastic recycling
Within our shire, we have several recycling groups including:
- Containers for Change – you can take eligible containers to a refund point to earn money for yourself or make a donation to a worthy local cause. Most aluminium, glass, plastic, steel and liquid paperboard drink containers between 150ml and 3L are eligible.
- Precious Plastics – you can take your plastic bottle tops and container lids to this local group, where they turn them into surfboard fins, plant pots and other items.
- DrumMUSTER – a local environmental initiative that recycles eligible, pre-cleaned agricultural and veterinary chemical containers. Drums with the drumMUSTER logo can be returned to the Davis Road Recycling facility – please contact the gate attendant on (08) 9780 5677 prior to bringing in your drums.

Bulk residential household waste
Do you need to dispose of large bulky items such as mattresses, white goods, tyres, or have more waste than you can fit in your bin?
We supply residents with Davis Road bulk waste vouchers (included in your Waste Guide each year) so you can drop off up to 1m3 of bulk waste for free. Please make sure you hand your voucher to the gate attendant on entry. Conditions apply. To find out our bulk waste fees, please click here.
E-Waste & other items
It’s crucial to dispose of electronic waste (e-waste) carefully so valuable resources (components made of plastics, glass, copper wire, and other metals) can be recovered.
Here’s what to do with the items:
- Appliances, air conditioners and white goods – Davis Road Waste Facility
- Batteries – take them to the Davis Road Waste Facility, , Margaret River and Augusta Shire Offices, or the Margaret River Library
