Shire supported events happening this month
There’s something special about April on Wadandi Boodja. The salmon are biting, the waves are pumping, and there’s a welcome break from the really hot weather. This is Djeran, the Wadandi season of adulthood, and time on Country feels just that little bit more magical.
April is also when the world’s best surfers paddle out at Main Break for the Western Australia Margaret River Pro (16 to 26 April). Always a highlight on the local events calendar, the Pro is so much more than a surf competition. It brings people together and delivers social and economic benefits for our community. Head down to Surfers Point to catch the action and soak up the atmosphere. It’s free!
It’s also school holidays, and there’s plenty happening to keep the kids entertained. Don’t miss Margs Youth Fest. The free event is created by teens, for teens, and will feature an epic mix of live music, workshops and activities. Or head to our libraries for author talks, lego club and the golden feather hunt!. Arts Margaret River has also curated an exciting holiday program at the Shire’s premier cultural and entertainment venue, HEART – Nala Bardip Mia.
Plus there’s some great workshops on from our partners including Mind-Ed and Lower Blackwood LCDC. And of course, later this month, ANZAC Day services.
We’re so proud to support these diverse events through our grants program and community partnerships to connect, strengthen and celebrate the place we call home and the people who make it so special.
Check out the full list of events below.
P.S. If you’re an event organiser, applications are now open for our Major Events, Community Development and Events Grants, and Environmental Management Fund Grants. Find out more here and apply at www.amrshire.wa.gov.au/grants
